We represent the owners and breeders of dwarf dairy goats in the UK. Allowing all to experience the joy of owning these small, useful goats which can be kept by many households looking for fresh sustainable milk. Many goats can give milk with just two kiddings in their lifetime. This reduces greatly the number of animals born who may not be wanted.
Most Dwarf goats are descended from West African Dwarf goats, the descendents of which are bred in the USA as Nigerian dwarf goats, from WAD goats and US dairy breeds. There are no Nigerian Dwarf goats in the UK.
USA to UK imports are highly restricted.
In the UK the pygmy type of WAD is better known, but is also a dairy type
that is distinct from the pet pygmy goat. The Dwarf Dairy breed is from descendents of WAD goats from Africa, and probably bred with other British breeds and the WAD pygmy type goats. Dwarf Dairy goats are , small sized, proportional goats. They are friendly and fun to keep it has the added bonus of giving fresh milk each day.
Sustainable, long milking periods between kiddings

FAQs PLEASE READ
Can I buy a Nigerian Dwarf here:
No That is a US breed. We are breeding Dwarf Dairy goats at this point we don't know what genes they share with Nigerian Dwarf goats from the US
Can I buy an unrelated boy & girl kid to breed with:
No Goats need companions and if you keep a boy & girl kid together they will breed too early. If you keep the separate they will be miserable. No reputable breeder will do this. Also males are harder to keep, they smell and what will you do about a companion for them as they need separating where the girl kids. It might be possible to buy unrelated adults, depending on your set up.
I want 2/3/4 female kids:
Please see our ads section or the list of the breeders at the bottom of every page also the
Sales and stud pageOn the whole we have a waiting list and you may need to wait a year or more. Dwarf Dairy goat breeders are working towards the breed standard please be aware most animals for sale will be ungraded (as kids) or lower grades as adults, as breeders tend to keep their best stock or trade with established breeders.
What can I expect when buying a Dwarf Dairy Goat
Currently the breed is working towards the Grade 1 specified in the
standard. Kids will be ungraded, as grading cannot happen until they are 2 years old. Ask the breeder if the parents have been graded. Grading aims to improve characteristics such as milk quantity and lactation length, health, conformation and temperament. To this aim breeders may choose to breed with other establish dairy breeds. This also helps to keep the gene pool wide. As the Dwarf Dairy herd book is an open book, this is permitted.
